Board of Directors Meeting Recap

Board of Directors Meeting Recap

The 2026 Alabama REALTORS® Board of Directors met on Thursday, September 10th at the Alabama REALTORS® Building in Montgomery. The Board approved the 2027 budget, considered governance proposals, discussed economic trends affecting members’ businesses, received legal updates, and conducted other Association business.

A summary of the Board’s actions and updates can be found below:

  • 2027 Budget: The Board of Directors reviewed and approved the 2027 Budget.
  • Dues: The Board of Directors approved a 5% ($12) increase in dues to help offset inflation, preserve member services, and strengthen AAR’s advocacy efforts for the next quadrennium.
  • Legal Update: The Board received an update on national and state legal developments, the implementation of the Alabama Property Protection Act on October 1, updates to the AAR statewide legal forms, and other legal matters affecting the Association and its members.
  • Association Asset Protection: The Board discussed proactive risk management and planning measures designed to safeguard the Association’s property, facilities, financial assets, and other resources.
  • Oath of Office: The Board approved revisions to the Oath of Office to more clearly define the responsibilities and expectations of AAR leaders. The revised language reinforces leaders’ fiduciary duties, their responsibility to act in the best interest of AAR, and expectations regarding compliance with governing documents, applicable law, and ethical standards.
  • Association Resources for Individual Association Positions: The Board approved a policy prohibiting Association resources from being used to promote, support, finance, or advance an individual member’s pursuit of an elected or appointed position within the REALTOR® organization at the local, state, regional, or national level. Alabama is a medium-sized state association with medium resources. AAR must ensure its resources are used responsibly and remain focused on programs, services, advocacy, and other activities that advance AAR’s mission and benefit its membership as a whole, rather than the individual personal ambitions of any individual member
  • Annual Conference: Registration for Annual Conference 2026 is still open! The conference will be held on October 19-20, 2026 at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear.
  • Alabama REALTORS® Foundation Scholarship – The scholarship application period is changing for 2027. Applications will open January 1, 2027, with additional updates to be released later this year. If you know of a member with an eligible child or grandchild, please be sure you share the information with them.

Thank you to our Directors for their time, service, and commitment to conducting the business of the Association on behalf of our members.
