For Margie Beth Shaw, advocacy is more than a responsibility — it’s a calling. As the 2025 Alabama Association of REALTORS® president, Shaw brings a deeply personal connection to the theme she’s chosen for her presidency: "Advocates at Heart." 

“Advocacy is defined as ‘pleading for or supporting a cause,’ and ‘at heart’ means doing so passionately for those causes we believe deeply in,” she said. “REALTORS® are unique in that we understand the importance of having our voices heard for the greater good, and we tackle obstacles head-on to make things better for all.”

Shaw’s commitment to advocacy began with her own story. A single mother of five at the time, she was drawn to real estate by the compassion she experienced while navigating a home purchase herself. A broker’s genuine care and sound advice changed her path, inspiring her to serve others with the same dedication and support she received.

As president, Shaw plans to strengthen Alabama REALTORS®’ role as a champion for the industry and the communities its agents serve, emphasizing the importance of involvement at all levels — city, county, state and national. Shaw’s vision for her term is to cultivate lasting, positive change that safeguards and elevates the industry and promotes ethical practices

She’s also passionate about celebrating the diversity and success of members throughout Alabama.

“I love our members, and I love the diversity and personalities of all the associations and communities across our state,” she said. “Our members are busy making a difference for all those around them — in their businesses, brokerages, associations, communities, families and even in their own lives — and I'm excited to learn about their amazing successes.”  

As she begins her term, Shaw is ready to tackle challenges and seize opportunities, working alongside members to make 2025 a year of growth, connection and success for Alabama REALTORS®.
