Dear AAR Members,

As my time as your 2024 president comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude and pride. Serving as your leader has been a tremendous honor, and I am deeply thankful for the trust you placed in me to guide our association through such a transformative year.

Reflecting on my journey, I’ve shared the challenges I’ve faced — from overcoming discrimination and dyslexia to adapting to Alabama’s real estate landscape as a Missouri native. These struggles instilled in me values of hard work, perseverance and determination. Little did I know how much these values would continue to be my compass as we navigated a year filled with ups and downs in the industry.

This year was not without its challenges. The NAR lawsuit demanded resilience and adaptability from all of us. It’s been inspiring to see REALTORS® across Alabama rise to the occasion, ensuring we maintain trust and transparency with our clients while continuing to provide the exemplary service that defines our profession.

Interest rates continued to dominate discussions, yet you all stayed steadfast as trusted advisors, educating buyers and sellers, finding creative solutions, and proving why Alabama REALTORS® are integral to their communities.

As this election year unfolded, we also had the privilege of stepping up as advocates. From local municipalities to the statehouse and Capitol Hill, we made our voices heard, advancing policies that protect property rights, strengthen communities and support our industry. Together, we have demonstrated that our association is not just an organization, but a movement that drives meaningful change.

As I pass the torch, I am filled with confidence and excitement for what lies ahead under the capable leadership of your next president, Margie Beth Shaw. She exemplifies the passion that will carry our association into a bright future. I am certain that her leadership will inspire us all to continue striving for excellence and fostering success.
